3 Things You Need to Know When Shopping for Dental Implants

August 12, 2018

Woman in dental chair giving thumbs upIf you’re looking for the right dentist to help you replace missing teeth with dental implants, cost is one thing that may be on your mind. Before settling on a dental practice to perform your procedure, there are a few basics you should know about making implant retained crowns, bridges, and dentures more affordable. In this post, we’ll discuss three things to look into before settling on a dental office to perform your implant tooth replacement plan. Keep reading to learn more.

1 – Dental Implants are Worth the Investment

When you’re getting started with your search for an implant dentist, you may wonder whether or not implant supported tooth replacement is worth the investment. Unlike other forms of tooth replacement that only restore the visible parts of the tooth, implant retained replacement teeth restore both the roots and crowns, making them look, feel, and function more like natural teeth.

Get a Head Start on Your Year-End Cosmetic or Restorative Care

September 10, 2013

In our last post, we encouraged patients to come to our Randolph dental office for a back-to-school visit. Today, we’d like to do the same for patients thinking of having restorative or cosmetic care before the end of the year.

Planning and implementing cosmetic or restorative can take as little as one appointment, but more often more like two of three. If you’re goal is to have a whiter, straighter, more complete smile in time for the major holidays in November or December, don’t wait to get started. Call Randolph Dental Care today to schedule your consultation with Dr. Goldstein.

During your consultation, Dr. Goldstein will complete an oral exam and talk to you about what kinds of results you’d like to see in the future. Once we know what you’re looking for, we can begin putting together a customized treatment plan that will help you, using services that fit your needs and medical history.

For patients who need basic restorative help, with a crown for instance, we can provide single-visit care with CEREC. Likewise, teeth whitening with Zoom! or wrinkle treatments with Botox or Juvéderm can be also be done quickly. If you need help with dentures or dental implants, though, the process will be more involved.

Do you want to learn more about cosmetic and restorative care from Dr. Goldstein and his Randolph dental team? Call Randolph Dental Care today to reserve your appointment. We serve patients from Randolph, Rockaway, Mendham, Chester, Morristown, Denville, Morris County, and beyond.

The History of Dental Implants

July 2, 2013

We think of dental implants as a modern solution to missing teeth—and for dental implants as they are now, that’s true. But there’s also evidence to show that, throughout history, people have been bridging gaps in their smiles with a wide variety of materials.

Some of the earliest evidence includes a 1,300 year-old mandible found among Mayan ruins. Specially shaped shells had been implanted into the jaw to replace missing teeth.

Evidence from ancient Rome and ancient Egypt has also been found. In the case of Rome, a cast-iron implant was found in the jaw of a Roman soldier, while it’s believed that gold wires were used by Egyptians. Other materials that have been used throughout history include ox bone, semi-precious stones, copper, ivory, and rubber.

The first contemporary implant was placed in 1965. Through a test with titanium and a rabbit femur, the scientist Per-Ingvar Brånemark discovered that titanium could form a bond with bone tissue, which led to the placement of the first implant in a human skull.

Today, dentists like Dr. Goldstein of Randolph Dental Care are restoring smiles with dental implants on a regular basis. Dental implants mimic the natural structure of teeth with a crown on top and an implant, which acts as a prosthetic root, underneath. They’re versatile enough to replace a single tooth, multiple ones, or even an entire row. Best of all, Dr. Goldstein’s Randolph dental patients can have both stages of an implant procedure completed right in our office.

Are dental implants the right restorative service for you? During a consultation at Randolph Dental Care, Dr. Goldstein will talk to you about the dental implant process and recommend a personalized treatment plan, whether it involves dental implants or another service entirely.

Call us today to reserve your appointment. We serve patients from Randolph, Rockaway, Mendham, Chester, Morristown, Denville, Morris County, and beyond.

Will Dentists Be Able to Regrow Teeth In the Distant Future?

March 28, 2013

Earlier this month, Science World Report published an article on something that could change dentistry in the future.  As reported in the Journal of Dental Research, doctors are getting closer and closer to helping patients replace missing teeth with new teeth grown from a patient’s own stem cells. That means that one day doctors may not have to rely on artificial restorative solutions. Instead, a completely new tooth could be grown in the patient’s mouth, resulting in a completely natural new smile.

The process works using a combination of specific cells taken from a patient’s gum tissue. When the right cells have been singled out and combined, the mixture is transplanted to a patient’s jaw, where the tooth will develop over time. The procedure is still being researched and developed, but in the future this could become an alternative to a service like dental implants.

Until that day, though, dental implants are still the best way to restore what a patient has lost. Dental implants mimic the structure of teeth by replacing both a missing tooth and the missing root underneath. What’s more, besides replacing a single tooth, dental implants can also be used to replace a full row of upper or lower teeth.  That makes dental implants one of the most versatile dental services currently available

To find out if dental implants are right for you, call Dr. Goldstein’s Randolph dental office. During a consultation at Randolph Dental Care, we can diagnose your situation and help you understand if dental implants are the best solution for you.

Dr. Goldstein serves patients from Randolph, Rockaway, Mendham, Chester, Morristown, Denville, Morris County, and beyond.

Dr. Goldstein Provides Complete Dental Implant Service for Randolph and Beyond

February 22, 2013

As we mentioned in our last post, dental implants are rising in popularity. Thanks to the unique way they interact with the jaw, more and more patients are enjoying restored smiles each year. And with the increased demand, more dentists are including dental implants in their list of services.

But just because a dentist offers dental implants, that doesn’t mean they can perform the entire procedure in one location. It takes a special devotion to implant dentistry to provide comprehensive implant care.

At Randolph Dental Care, Dr. Goldstein can provide you with the complete care you need, without having to refer you to another doctor for part of your procedure. For both the surgery and the restoration, you’ll visit our Randolph dental office, where the team you already know and trust will gently transform your smile with this unique and highly effective restorative dentistry service.

The dental implant process comes in two phases. In the first, Dr. Goldstein will carefully insert your implant(s) into your jaw. Because the material that dental implants are made from is biocompatible, eventually your implant(s) will fuse with the bone tissue in your jaw, stimulating growth and creating a strong foundation for your new teeth.

Once this has happened, it’s time for the restoration phase of your procedure. During the restoration, your prosthetic tooth (or teeth) is attached and your procedure is completed.

Do you have other things you’d like to find out about dental implants? Our Randolph team would be happy to answer your questions. Call us today. We’re proud to serve patients from Randolph, Rockaway, Mendham, Chester, Morristown, Denville, Morris County, and surrounding areas.

The Growing Popularity of Dental Implants

February 8, 2013

There’s a tremendous need for restorative dentistry. Through their research, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry has found that close to 30 million Americans no longer have the teeth in one or both of their upper or lower jaws. They’ve also estimated that close to 15 million Americans have replaced missing teeth with a crown and bridge.

Traditional restorative options have been effective to a degree, but another service is gaining in popularity—dental implants. The number of patients who have dental implants continues to grow by 500,000 each year, with a success rate of 98 percent.

What accounts for the popularity and success of dental implants?

It’s in the way they interact with your smile. Dental implants come in two parts, just like natural teeth. The crown portion replaces your missing teeth while the implant portion replaces your missing tooth roots. The implants are made from titanium, a biocompatible metal that bonds with the bone in your jaw to create a strong foundation for your new smile. When the entire procedure is finished, patients can enjoy a smile that functions and looks just like a natural smile.

Have you struggled to adjust to traditional dentures, or another restorative option? Do you wish you had a smile as functional as the one you used to have? Are you worried about losing more teeth in the future because of bone loss? Dental implants could be the answer you’re looking for in each of these cases.

Not every patient is a candidate for the procedure, though. Dr. Goldstein of Randolph Dental Care would be happy to help you decide if dental implants are right for you. To find out if you’re a candidate for dental implants, reserve an appointment with Randolph Dental Care. Dr. Goldstein serves patients from Randolph, Rockaway, Mendham, Chester, Morristown, Denville, Morris County, and surrounding areas.

Software for Guided Implant Surgery

January 25, 2013

Dental implant surgery requires careful, precise planning. Any tool that can make the process easier and more trustworthy is a valuable asset. That’s why, as your Randolph implant dentist, Dr. Goldstein has invested in specialized implant planning software from 360imaging.

Using 360imaging in combination with his CT scan machine, Dr. Goldstein can create a detailed 3D model of your teeth and virtually place your implants on the computer. From that, a guide is fabricated  that is used for precise placement of your implants. This takes all the guess work out of the placement and ensures a more rapid and predictable result.  That means you can show up for your procedure feeling more comfortable about your surgery, as well as the rest of your procedure.

Why is planning an implant surgery so important? Because your implant posts are the foundation for your new smile. Once inserted, your implants will become a natural part of your jaw. To make sure that you achieve the best results possible, Dr. Goldstein has to place your implants in the most advantageous way. Careful pre-planning will make it easier to deliver the results you most need.

Do you want to learn more about our 360imagine software? Visit their website to read about what changes have been made to their updated edition. And if you have questions about the dental implant process and how Dr. Goldstein can help, give Randolph Dental Care a call. Dr. Goldstein provides implant placement and restoration for patients from Randolph, Rockaway, Mendham, Chester, Morristown, Denville, Morris County, and beyond.
