Safest Places During COVID-19 — Dental Offices Rank High!

However, there are a number of other places where you can go without putting yourself at an unacceptably high risk of contracting the disease. One of those places is the office of your dentist in Randolph, NJ. In fact, a recent study from MIT researchers concluded that banks, colleges, universities, and dental offices are okay to visit, even during these uncertain times. Why can you visit your dentist with confidence? In this article, we’ll discuss the answer to that question.

Dental Offices Are Remarkably Clean

Even before COVID-19 broke out, dental offices were some of the cleanest places in the country. That is because dental professionals must adhere to strict sterilization and infection control procedures. Now, those cleaning protocols have climbed to an even higher level. For example, most practices have changed their scheduling procedures to allow extra time to clean the operatories between patients. They may also perform deep cleaning of their office every night. If you would like to learn more about what your local dentist is doing to maintain a clean environment, don’t hesitate to give them a call. They will be happy to talk with you and address any concerns you may have.

Dentists Promote Social Distancing

When you visit the grocery store or another essential business, you might find that maintaining a safe distance from other people is almost impossible. That isn’t the case in a dental office. Dentists have measures in place to minimize your contact with other people. For example, you may be asked to wait in your vehicle until your appointment begins. When you do come into contact with the dentist and their staff members, their extensive personal protective equipment will create barriers to virtually eliminate the chance that either of you will contract a virus from the other.

Dentistry Is Truly Essential

With the outbreak of COVID-19, many activities that most people used to always carry out in person have moved online. That includes even necessary tasks like grocery shopping and meeting with coworkers. However, there is no way to undergo dental treatment online. You might be able to arrange a consultation with your dentist via video conference, but there is only so much that can be accomplished remotely. Dentistry often requires an in-person visit. If you attempt to wait until the COVID-19 pandemic completely subsides before you visit your dentist, you could face serious oral and overall health complications. Indeed, leaving your home to care for your smile is worth it!

It may still be a while before we are totally free of the threat of COVID-19. In the meantime, you have no reason to be afraid to attend dental appointments. Your dentist is serious about protecting both your smile and your overall health!
